adidas also released the L.A.Competition,which used the so-called peg system.

  The three coloured pegs in the heel of the L. A. Trainer are not there merely for cosmetic reasons They play an important role in the performance of the shoe. The peg system, as it is known. consists of three variable-density heel pegs, which are adjusted to customize the shoe’s cushioning. The L. A. Trainer comes with a nylon mesh or leather upper and was reissued in the late 1990s.
